RE: traveling through the mt. carmel tunnel in Utah

Thank all of you about the advice on our Southwestern Trip to the Nat'l Parks. We had an excellent time, and it sure beats the airports, security, hotels and everything else. We took your advice and with our poodle Daisy, we purchased a small portable, battery-operated fan. We didn't use it, as we didn't pull over to observe sights. Regarding skylight in the shower, Keith bought a heavy black board, cut it down, and used bunge cords to secure to corners. It worked excellent, as we don't open and expose the panel. We look forward to our next SWestern trip when we retire in 4 years! Vikkitennis

RE: skylight in the shower

Thank you for all of your replies. May I ask, what is CW? We will look into that... All of the options are very good, and I thank you again.

traveling through the mt. carmel tunnel in Utah

Hello, First of all, I would like to thank all of you who responded to my concern about the skylight within our shower. We will certaintly look into it. We will be traveling from our home in Modesto, CA to Zion, Bryce, North Rim Grand Canyon and a few others for two weeks. I am concerned upon leaving Bryce and entering HWY 89 to the North Rim GC (Our first stop will be Zion) How is it with the Mt. Carmel tunnel? Our fifth wheel is 34 ft long (Fleetwood Prowler 315 BH) and do we need to have an escort? Thank you! As you might have noticed, yes we are novices with our 5-wheeler. I am looking forward to our trip, but do not want any surprises...

RE: Bunk House....kids really use it?

We have a Prowler 315 BH and our daughter (age 11) loves it! She invites a friend or two, and they stay up until 2 or 3 watching TV, talking, without disturbing us. No yelling from my behalf... ALso, they contain their "mess" and therefore, I don't say one word, until we leave the campsite! It is wonderful. We feel we will continue to use it for couples to join us, as it is more private than the living quarters couch.

skylight in the shower

Dear RVers, We bought a 2007 Fleetwood Prowler 315 BH in January. WE love it, and have taken our coach out almost a dozen times. Only one small problem: the skylight in the shower is a nice feature, but prevents my husband and I from sleeping past the sun rises! My husband velcro'd black construction paper up from the inside, but it is tempermental, and breaks down. He is threatening to paint it black from the exterior (!) Any tips out there? Thank you

RE: Getting our new 5'er from RVW tomorrow!

Have a great time! We purchased a Fleetwood Prowler Bunkhouse in January after owning a travel trailer. We are enjoying it very much, and yes, it is easier to maneuver than a TT. Be careful of the tight turns... My husband didn't use the slider hitch, and the coach broke our back window of his 2500 pick-up. We learned the hard way! Enjoy!

RE: Length Limits and 5th Wheels

I agree with a few of the writers:call the campground. We just came back from Pinecrest Campground in the Stanislaus Nat'l Forest, and they assured me they do take 40 ft. Well, we are novices with our 34 ft. Prowler, and my husband and I nearly had heart attacks trying to maneuver the RV. Three people came to our aide! We found another site, as the one I reserved (A31) was inaccesable due to a pick-up blocking the road at a nearby site. The site we used (A55) was decent, but we couldn't get our slide out, our steps didn't go down all the way, and we couldn't use our awning. I believe we will stay in larger parks; I believe Meadowview at Pinecrest looks better.

RE: traveling in the summer with pets

Thank you for all of your advice! I plan to purchase fans and have a battery-operated radio with us. I will let all know after we return August 7th. Vikkitennis

traveling in the summer with pets

Hello, We are traveling with our toy poodle (age 1/1/2 years) this summer for two weeks to So. Utah (Zion and Bryce) Lake Powell and Flagstaff. My husband is concerned about the heat and "what would we do with her if we decided to pull over and view a museum for a couple of hours?" I strategically reserved our campgrounds along the way with two nights, and at Bryce, three nights, so we would be able to leave her at the campsite (hook-ups, yes!) and enjoy the sights and amenities. What do other fellow fifth-wheel RVers do? We are teachers, and the summer is are only time to travel. I hate to leave her at home, as she would have more activity traveling with us.
